Kickin' Tofu in Yasaka: it's about time...for photos!

it is way too hot...august melted me. i have been keeping busy with children's events, new jet orientation, books, and baking bread. yeah i know, why the hell have i been baking in the august heat??? hey, the 38C weather in my kitchen is great for rising bread...but truthfully, i got two new pans over the internet (ten points for my nihongo-jyozu!) and have been playing. i love covering all surfaces in a fine layer of flour! our roof sprung a leak on tuesday due to the over four inches of rain that fell in just two hours. along the main road to oda, part of the mountain slid out!!! no one was hurt but the detour is a pain...school starts tomorrow. back to it.

grr...blogger...i cannot figure out how to get vertical photos to import (new camera...) so i am limited to horizontal ones. that limits my photo essay...sorry.

bitsy! the summer surprise we found outside our house on a random day in august. we fed her with a syringe she was so small (maybe about 3 weeks...she could barely walk)! she has since moved to our friend Ben's, in Yasaka-mura.

a July wedding (we travelled back to Boulder, CO for this one)! too bad most of our shots were vertical...here are a few. thanks for the memories. i love you guys!

back in july we had a kimono party at the Gungendou (a posh Iwami Ginzan shop) owner's home. i want to live there...she has put years of work into restoring her 200 + year old farmhouse. video of the bathroom coming soon. amazing.

the April launch of restaurant, America (our friend Yuko christened our yet to be opened cafe, America. her logic was- it would be cool to ask people if 'they had ever been to America?'...;) ).

the fire takes about two hours to heat up...once the oven is about 6-700C the pizza making can commence. ideally the deliciousness should take about three minutes to bake.
